MISTI Tool Hack

Have you ever heard of a MISTI tool? The long version name is "Most Incredible Stamp Tool
Invented".

The following photo is from the mysweetpetunia.com site.

It's a tool that I've wanted, but at the moment cannot justify spending the amount of money on it.

There are so many cheaper versions that you can do - you can create one using a cd case, a dvd case - just to name a couple.

Just recently I saw on Craftyhallet's Facebook page where she created a spin off of the MISTI, using a front opening photo frame from Ikea. Here is also a link to her blog. Here's a photo of the frame she used -

We went to Ikea yesterday at Logan and you guessed it, I picked one up for $7-00.

Okay - it's not the quality of a MISTI, but if it does the same thing, I can handle that.

I've added some graph paper and printed up some measurements to go on the inside. I have to get some fun foam and magnetic sheet to add to it. This is what I've done so far to the frame- not much but it's a start.

I'll let you know how I get on, once I get those extra things that I need.

Hope this info will help you out. Please note, this is not my idea - it's Caroline's idea.

That Embossing Folder....

Not sure if you are aware of the craze that went on about "that embossing folder". I know that people in a few of my Facebook craft groups were just raving about "that embossing folder". When I found out that Australian Simply Cards Magazine Issue 94 was coming out with "that embossing folder", that I knew that I had to get it.

So last night we went shopping and I thought I would check if our newsagent had the magazine - yep, they had about 6 of them on the shelf. So one of them came home with me. This is the magazine that I'm talking about.

You also get two stamps with it - With Love and Birthday Wishes.

This morning I've made two cards with the embossing folder.

The card on the left I have sponged on to the embossing folder with different coloured water based inks and then I spritzed the folder with water where it's inked and then placed the watercolour paper on top of it. Closed the embossing folder and then rubbed my brayer over the top (it has not gone through the cuttlebug to be embossed).

The card on the right - not totally happy with it, but it works. I'ved inked my brayer up with Tim Holtz Dusty Concord Distress Ink and then rolled it on to one side of the embossing folder. Placed the watercolour paper into the folder and then I ran it through my Cuttlebug. I then went over it with kindy glitz.

I will make more cards using this embossing folder and the stamps.

Male Scrapbook Layout

Today I have a male scrapbook layout to share with you. I don't do many male scrapbook layouts as it's out of my comfort zone. So I challenged myself to use the photo of my partner Michael on this page. Had no idea of what I was going to do. The following is what I came up with.

I didn't want to drag out my eCraft machine, so I hand cut the cogs. Overall I think I like the page.

The second photo shows a close up of the Gold Shimmer Mist that I flicked on to the page.
