Colour Blocking

Today, I have 2 cards to share with you. They are done using the technique of colour blocking.

It's where you take an acrylic block and you ink half of the block with one colour ink and the other half with a different colour ink. Then you spritz the acrylic block with water (don't put alot of water on as you don't want it to be too dripping wet) and then place it on to a piece of card. Lift the acrylic block up and then wait for it to dry. Once it's dry you can stamp and an image as well as a sentiment. I've used 3d images on the cards.

Love this technique, as you create a different background each time.

For the first card I used 3 different Stampin Up Inks - Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, and Going Gray.

For this card, I used Adirondack Brights Ink Pads - Sunshine Yellow and Sunset Orange.

Easter Challenge #160

Today, I have an Easter card that I made for the challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers blog.

For the challenge you have to make a project inspired by Easter. This is my take.

I've used images from the Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments Collection Easter Greetings, as well as embossing the background with the Irish Clubs (Who What Wear Collection) embossing folder. I went over bits of the card with Wink of Stella.

Cakes, cakes and more cakes

Hi, I have a card that I've created for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. The challenge for this week is Food and/or Drink.

I decided to go along with the food part.

For the background I've used one of the 4" x 6" Journal Cards from the Kaisercraft Sprinkles pack. I purchased some cake stickers from the Bargain shop to use. I've used a Happy Birthday Die Cut for the wording. It doesn't show too clearly in the photo, but I've used the Wink of Stella pen over the banners and the wording.

I wish....

Today, I have to share with you a very special layout that I put together. A few years ago at the Craft Show, I saw a layout (sorry I can't remember who did it) and they had a list of things that they wished for.

My mum had passed away and I was ready to do this layout. It has a few things that I wished for listed........

This photo shows a close up of the stamped and layered flowers.

Ngaire's Class

I was fortunate enough to attend a couple of Ngaire Bartlam's classes a few years ago. Today, I have two layouts to share with you.

The feature on the first layout, has a paper frill. I really love this effect.

The second layout, we had to hand cut the title.

Who's Cheeky.....

Today I have another layout to share with you. My Mum nicknamed our daughter "Cheeky". For me this photo of Emma shows her cheeky nature.

Stitched Stickers on a Layout

A few years ago, I was asked to teach a scrapbook class, and use the flower stickers that you can stitch on. The funny part is, I was terrified, as I didn't think I was good enough to teach a scrapbooking class - only good enough to teach cards.

This is what I came up with ....

You pull the ribbon on the photo at the top right hand corner and it reveals 2 more photos.

The stitched flower stickers are on the top left and bottom right hand corners.

Scrapbooking at a Retreat...

I was fortunate to attend a Scrapbooking Retreat a few years ago. Ngaire Bartlam taught us a layout. Must admit that I really struggled with putting them together.

Today I have the layout to share with you.

We used packaging from the rubons on the layout as well.

Back again....

I'm back again, from a short break. I have still been doing a little of craft, as well as spending time with the family.

Over the next few days/weeks, I will be sharing with you some of scrapbook layouts. The first few that I'll be sharing are some of my early layouts. Looking back at them now, I see how far I have come and I have a few special ladies to thank for sharing different techniques with me.

So today, I have to share with you my very first ever layout. We had professional photos taken of our daughter (she was born at 27 1/2 weeks).

This layout was done at a retreat, where we were told what to take, but didn't know the layout. Instructions were read out to us and we had to decipher the instructions. This is my version....
